Right at the outset, if you are adamantly leftist you will not understand this. If you consider yourself a traditional conservative, a moderate Democrat in the old sense of the word before rioting was a thing, or simply non-political I hope this provides insight.

Answer:
Trump is not an ideological conservative but he has potential to be the most effective anti-left leader of the last 100 years. What happened on November 8, 2016 is in the process of being a watershed moment for the United States. If his experiment is effective and his agenda enacted to a degree that Americans re-elect him in 2020 and another leader in the same vein in 2024 the Franklin Delano Roosevelt New Deal model of entrenched Democratic ideas and dominance will be ended.
How:
1. Trump is a combination of Andrew Jackson, Theodore Roosevelt, and PT Barnum.
2. His four principles are anti-left, anti-political correctness, anti-stupidity, and passionately pro-American. For everything that has happened so far on the wild ride, he hasn't violated any of these principles.

Or here's another way, explained so even kids can understand. The bureaucracy is too big, we must defeat it, that's what he means when he says Drain the Swamp. When Mr. Incredible switches from being a drab non-helpful person to magically unlocking his brain and explaining to the poor old lady how to get done what she needs to get done there we have the key! Trump has the will to do it and each person must individually decide for themselves on if they wish to join him.
